Mais chez Kean, l‘homme et le comédien se confondent bien souvent… </strong> <br /> <br /> Est-il en vérité lui-même ou bien les divers personnages qu‘il incarne ? Un soir, submergé par ses passions amoureuses, Kean explose en pleine représentation d’Othello. Kean de Dumas, c‘est ni plus ni moins que la quintessence même du Théâtre. Dans une profusion de couleurs et d‘émotions où le comique et le tragique se côtoient avec audace. Tous les plus grands thèmes y sont abordés. La quête d‘absolu, le donjuanisme, le pouvoir, la folie... Véritable hommage à Shakespeare, Pirandellien bien avant l‘heure, il nous offre avant tout une joyeuse et flamboyante variation sur l‘art du comédien, autant que de la comédienne, soit dit en passant. Appel enflammé à toutes les résistances, hymne effréné à la liberté, il mêle l‘imagination fiévreuse et flamboyante d‘un Dumas à l‘insolente modernité d‘un Sartre, nous proposant de surcroît une puissante réflexion sur l‘être et le paraître. Une mise en abîme, un jeu de miroirs permanent au service d‘une véritable machine à jouer, qui pousse sans retenue jusqu‘à l‘ivresse, tous les plaisirs réunis de la scène. Rappelons ici par ailleurs que la dernière fois que nous avons eu l‘occasion d‘entendre ce chef d‘œuvre, ce fut avec Jean-Paul Belmondo qui fit son grand retour au théâtre à travers lui, bien avant d‘incarner Cyrano, du reste cousin fort peu éloigné de Kean...
